Meghan Markle, The Duchess of Sussex, and Prince Harry are developing two new non-fiction series with Netflix. These projects are part of their ongoing collaboration with the streaming service through their Archewell Productions banner, established after signing a deal in 2020.
The first series will feature Meghan Markle exploring her passions for cooking, gardening, entertaining, and friendship. It will be managed by Leah Hariton of “Selena + Chef” as showrunner, with direction by Michael Steed, known for his work on “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction” and “Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown.” Meghan will executive produce this series along with her team at Archewell Productions and other notable producers.
The second series will delve into the competitive world of professional polo, documenting the intense and often unseen aspects of the sport. This series will be primarily filmed during the U.S. Open Polo Championship at The USPA National Polo Center in Wellington, Florida. It aims to showcase the rigorous demands and passion required to compete at high levels. Prince Harry, an avid polo player, will also serve as an executive producer.
Both series are currently in the early stages of production and build on the couple’s previous successful ventures with Netflix, including the “Harry & Meghan” docuseries and other notable projects like “Live To Lead” and “Heart of Invictus.”
Additionally, Meghan has recently launched a new business called American Riviera Orchard and inked a podcast deal with Lemonada Media to launch a new series and distribute her prior Spotify series “Archetypes” to all podcast platforms. Netflix’s Bela Bajaria has hinted at more projects under development, including a movie and a scripted series, following the couple’s acquisition of screen rights for Carley Fortune’s novel “Meet Me At The Lake.”
