Connects you with your favorite muse
It’s a modern month, and it’s the same visitor—hair down there. The time has come to expel the hair from your pube locale, and the alternatives are perpetual. You’ll be able elect laser hair expulsion devices—if you carve out sufficient time to guarantee appropriate execution. Depilatory creams are an simpler strategy, in spite of the fact that they can now and then burn and aren’t continuously appropriate for delicate skin. On the off chance that you’re anything like me, you’ve toyed with the thought of a Brazilian wax but continuously listened frightfulness stories of how excruciating it may be. Still, that didn’t prevent me from booking an arrangement. In case one session could give me flawlessly smooth, smooth skin, it couldn’t be that terrible, right? Will my leg be suspended within the discuss a la Carrie Bradshaw in that Sex and the City scene? Well, I was almost to discover out.
Conjuring up the boldness to urge a Brazilian was a challenge in itself. For my to begin with big-girl wax, I trekked to my nearby European Wax Center, the prevalent excellence sanctuary for all who crave to be smooth from head to toe. With a sudden wave of fear surging through my body, I promptly exchanged my starting Brazilian arrangement for a two-piece line wax. I got to be the laughingstock of my gather chat that day—I couldn’t go out like that. On a mission to redeem myself, I exchanged back to a Brazilian wax, and my wax pro, Christine, was fantastically understanding.
I was educating to expel my pants and lie down on the ruddy waxing table with my knees bowed and legs apart—butterfly fashion. After applying a cleaning arrangement to my private range, taken after by sprinkling powder to keep the area dry and free of any sweat (from my nerves, clearly), I looked over my bowed knee to observe Christine mix the wax until it was hot and prepared to be applied on my skin. “This was a great idea,” I kept consoling myself, as she delicately swiped the hot purple wax onto my skin, and boy, was it hot. I’m no epicurean for pain, so I yelled and recoiled when she tore off the introductory glob of dissolved wax.
Not at all like waxing eyebrows, chins, and underarms, Brazilian waxing doesn’t require paper strips. Be that as it may, the more she waxed, the less demanding it was to bear the torment since we created a small framework: breathe in as the wax is connected to your skin, and breathe out when it’s time to evacuate. Christine at that point connected European Wax Center’s Smooth Me Ingrown Hair Serum to calm the skin. What felt like a lifetime of anguish as it were turned out to be a 20-minute session, but I’d be lying on the off chance that I said I would not return. In truth, I have as of now booked my another arrangement.
On the off chance that you, as well, are a wax newbie and inquisitive almost the procedure, I surveyed Nicole Sandoval, senior chief of learning, advancement, and field preparing at European Wax Center, and their wax master, Christine, on everything you would like to know some time recently getting a Brazilian wax.
There’s a two-piece wax, where the hair on the sides and best range along the swimming outfit line is expelled, and at that point there’s a Brazilian, which clears out your whole pubic zone uncovered (!). A Brazilian wax evacuates all the hair from your swimming outfit region (beat, sides, and front) and those hard-to-reach regions within the back. Essentially put: everything goes. You’ll select to take off a “landing strip” or a triangle; the choice is up to you.
Any method requiring hair evacuation from follicles will be an unpleasant experience. “The good news is once you begin waxing reliably, what we’re doing is preparing the hairs to come out at the same time so they can develop in at the same time,” Christine says. “The to begin with time harms the most exceedingly bad, particularly in case you’ve been shaving, but once your hair structure begins changing because of waxing, it gets to be so much simpler and less painful.”
“Strip wax follows to the top layer of the skin and the hair. When that comes off, it takes the best layer of skin as well, which is why it’s so painful,” Christie says. “That causes redness, swelling, bothering, etc. Difficult wax, which we use, as it were follows to the hair, so it’s more tender for delicate skin.”
European Wax Center created its claim arrangement suitably titled Consolation Wax. “It expels hair viably with minimal torment whereas too being gentle on the skin, guaranteeing the foremost comfortable waxing involvement. Nectar waxes can be muddled, excruciating on long hair, and on the off chance that not at the right temperature, can burn the skin,” Sandoval includes.
Pop an ibuprofen some time recently your entry. I didn’t and felt each tear! “Wear loose-fitting clothes,” Christine recommended. I didn’t. “To get ready for your wax, we prescribe hair be at slightest ¼” long (approximately the estimate of a sprinkle). Do not stress; your hair can never be as well long to come see us,” Sandoval warns.
It’s too astute to exfoliate your skin utilizing an oil-free equation, as oil-based items can make it troublesome for the wax to adhere to the hair appropriately. “Avoid alcohol and caffeine the day of your reservation. It could seem like a great thought to have a drink to calm the nerves, but liquor diminishes the blood, which actually causes a more excruciating encounter. Caffeine leads to more skin affectability and can moreover up the torment amid a wax. It’s best to be well hydrated so the skin allows for the hair to be removed easily,” Sandoval offers.
“Also, bringing a unused match of clothing is superior than re-wearing the one you’ve been wearing all day.” Whereas you will be enticed, do not shave! “When you’re shaving, the hair is cut down to diverse levels, which makes it harder for the wax to grasp. On the off chance that you shave indeed once after getting a wax, it’s like beginning all over again,” Christine clarifies. After a wax, it takes around three to four weeks for the hair to develop back.
In expansion to taking ibuprofen, apply desensitizing cream or splash. Apply the cream around 30-40 minutes before your arrangement to offer assistance gloomy hair expulsion torment.
Whereas your skin may be super sensitive during this time, you can completely wax on your period. “As long as you’re wearing a tampon in since there’s more blood stream to that range of your body, the skin will be greatly delicate, as everything is amid your menstrual cycle,” clarifies Christine.
It takes almost three to four weeks for your hair to begin developing back (this could be longer or shorter, depending on the individual). Christine too recommends permitting your hair to develop at slightest as long as the length of a rice grain some time recently planning an appointment.
“A steady waxing plan when combined with the correct aftercare, such as our EWC’s SlowTM Collections, can moderate the regrowth of hair,” Sandoval clarifies. The Moderate collection by EWC contains fixings that minimize hair development and mollifies the hair. “One fixing we utilize in specific is Narcissus Tazetta Bulb Extricate, which helps in assaulting the regrowth of hair at the root. This implies that the innovation as it were works on skin that has been waxed or culled since waxing pulls hair out straightforwardly from the root, versus shaving, which essentially cuts it off at the skin’s surface. Hair develops in at different rates, but after you’ve waxed and hair is coming in as regrowth, normal utilize of any item that contains this innovation will work at the root so the hair develops back thinner & better than it was before,” she includes.
“It’s critical to exfoliate every other day since you need to urge that dead skin off the surface, or it will get caught into the hair follicles and square the hair from developing out. This is often how ingrown hairs are created,” Christine notes. “Avoid sweaty exercises, sun presentation, open pools, or jacuzzi, having sex, and showering with exceptionally hot water [quickly] after getting a wax.”
Sandoval proposes utilizing tepid or cool water when showering post-wax, as showering in steaming hot temperatures can get dried out the skin. “Also, keep in mind that your skin is crisply exfoliated from your wax, so do not utilize any cruel cleansers or body washes that contain too numerous oils or take off a film on your skin,” she prompts. Instep, Sandoval suggests utilizing relieving and calming antibacterial or anti-inflammatory fixings like tea tree oil, aloe vera, chamomile, or green tea, numerous of which can be found in the EWC Moderate collection.
If you have over-processed, dry, or damaged hair, you’re probably aware that there are numerous products on the market designed to address these issues. These products aim to reduce frizz, repair broken bonds, and provide moisture. There are different regimens to try, from hair cycling, which involves two separate wash cycles, to repair systems that target split ends and breakage. However, the success of these products depends on factors such as hair quality, hair type, and individual circumstances. In my own experience, I’ve used too much bleach over the years in an attempt to achieve various shades of blonde, resulting in damaged ends that are in desperate need of hydration. I not only desire silky, smooth texture but also want to minimize heat styling as much as possible, as my current stylist advises against using any heat on my hair. Therefore, I’ve been testing various products and tools to find the safest and most effective options for damaged hair like mine. In this article, I’ve compiled 7 products and tools to fix damaged hair.
GuruNanda Rosemary Essential Oil ($6)
My hair always feels significantly smoother after a morning wash when I’ve slept with rosemary oil on my scalp. While you can also use it on your skin, I love the hair growth benefits that come with dripping it onto my scalp and allowing it to work its magic overnight. I’ll often apply this quickly before a morning run, too.
Dr.PAWPAW It Does It All: 7 in 1 Hair Treatment Styler ($15)
I’m constantly amazed by the fast-acting effects of this styler. I use it for everything from taming frizz to detangling my hair when I’m fresh out of the shower (with my damaged hair, knots begin to form almost instantly). I also find this to be a smart travel product since it accomplishes so many goals with just one spray. Rather than packing your leave-in conditioner, heat protectant, and serum, this all-in-one option makes your baggage much lighter. What’s more, it boasts a delicious mango-coconut scent and is vegan-friendly.
Ethique Mintasy Refreshing Solid Shampoo Bar For Balanced to Dry & Damaged Hair ($15)
Not only is Ethique a vegan, eco-friendly brand with its plastic- and cruelty-free production methods, but it’s also complementary to an on-the-go lifestyle. Most of my replenishing hair kits come with larger shampoo and conditioner bottles that aren’t travel-size, so I like to pop this bar into a plastic container and pack it in my duffle for weekend getaways. There are over 10 different varieties of this shampoo bar to fit all of your needs, whether you have a sensitive scalp or need a purple shampoo for neutralizing brassy tones.
Drybar Hold Me Hair Clips ($16, originally $19)
Before I added these smoothing hair clips to my styling routine, I found separating my hair into sections while styling to be quite challenging. Oversize claw clips led to tangling and my damaged, frizzy pieces almost instantly fell out of a hair tie. These clips are ultra-strong and don’t slip, and they hold everything in place whether my hair is wet or dry.
K18 Leave-In Repair Hair Mask Treatment ($29)
I hate to choose favorites, but K18 should truly be everyone’s go-to brand for repairing damaged hair. The biotech treatment restores strength, softness, smoothness, and bounce with every application, so I use it every time I wash my hair after towel-drying. The vegan and cruelty-free formula is highly concentrated, so you really don’t need a lot and it works in just four minutes. As our PS senior beauty editor writes in her K18 Hair Leave-In Molecular Repair Hair Mask review, “It gives me bounce and movement and miraculously doesn’t weigh down my fine hair.”
Interested in more beneficial K18 products? Check out our editor review of the K18 Damage Shield Protective Conditioner to round out your treatment.
Amika Water Sign Hydrating Hyaluronic Hair Oil ($32)
I like to run this hydrating hair oil through my ends before going to sleep. My hair tends to get more coarse and dry overnight, and I find this product, which contains an eight-oil blend, to be a good preventative measure. A little goes a long way, so you really get bang for your buck. After all, you don’t want to add too much oil to your hair so that you wake up with greasy-looking roots.
Squigs Beauty Gooseberry Delight Hair Oil ($34)
No product tames my frizz like the Squigs Gooseberry Delight. No matter what hairstyle I’m going for, this is the final step of my process. I barely have to use more than a few drops. The oil is lightweight, so as long as you don’t use too much, your scalp won’t feel greasy, and your hair won’t look weighed-down. I personally like to rub it in my palms and then pat down any areas where I notice flyaways. Free from synthetic fragrances and dyes, it can also be used as an overnight treatment.

As someone who frequently engages in outdoor activities, sunscreen is undoubtedly an essential item that we use every day. However, it is not uncommon for certain issues to arise on our skin due to a lack of proper understanding about sunscreen. Therefore, this time we will discuss the truth about sunscreen for the health of our skin.
It’s safe to assume that most of us are familiar with the basic commandments of sunscreen usage. We know that we should use broad-spectrum SPF 30 protection every day and reapply it every two hours. However, one aspect of safe skincare practices that often gets overlooked is the expiry date indicated on the sunscreen bottle.
Naturally, we don’t want to waste any product, especially if it appears to be in good condition. However, using sunscreen or any skincare product beyond its shelf life can have significant consequences. In the following paragraphs, experts explain why everyone should take a sunscreen’s expiry date seriously and offer tips on getting the most out of your favorite sunscreens before it’s time to discard them.
So, does sunscreen have an expiry date? In short, yes. Even the best sunscreens will eventually lose their effectiveness. Sunscreens are classified as over-the-counter drugs and must adhere to specific testing guidelines. According to Krupa Koestline, founder and chief cosmetic chemist at KKT Labs, all sunscreens are required to have expiry dates listed to enter the market, and the sunscreen should remain effective until that specified date.
If there is no expiry date listed, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) states that the manufacturer must demonstrate that the product remains stable for three years. After that, it is considered expired three years from the date of purchase.
The expiration dates may vary depending on the formulation. Hadley King, MD, a board-certified dermatologist based in New York City, explains that physical sunscreens (mineral sunscreens) are generally more stable than chemical sunscreens, resulting in longer shelf lives. Physical sunscreens containing ingredients like zinc oxide and titanium dioxide do not undergo molecular changes when exposed to light and maintain stability longer than the ingredients found in chemical sunscreens, which consist of more unstable molecules that can oxidize over time.
The expiration of sunscreens can also vary depending on the type you choose. King notes that powder sunscreens, containing minerals that are more stable, tend to have a longer-lasting effect, while liquid formulations are less stable. However, in general, sunscreens can last anywhere between two to three years.
What happens when you use expired sunscreen? The main drawback is that you won’t receive adequate sun protection from harmful UV rays, which can lead to premature aging and more serious skin and health issues like sunburn and skin cancer. Koestline explains that expiration dates indicate the point at which sunscreen is no longer effective, and using expired sunscreen increases the risk of sunburns because the protection is no longer guaranteed.
She further explains that sunscreen formulas work by evenly distributing UV filters on the skin. Once the sunscreen has reached its expiry date, the formula may start to separate, causing the active ingredients that filter out UV rays to cluster in one area upon application.
Using expired sunscreen could potentially irritate the skin. The ingredients might have broken down into irritating chemicals after the expiration date, or there could be bacteria and yeast growth in the product, leading to infection and skin irritation such as bumps and rashes.
Both experts and the FDA strongly advise against using expired sunscreen and recommend discarding it altogether. If you have no other option for sun protection, King suggests that using slightly expired sunscreen might be permissible if it still looks, feels, and smells normal. However, it’s advisable to perform a patch test first to ensure you don’t have any adverse reactions and to replace it with new sunscreen as soon as possible.
“Expiration dates are stamped on sunscreen containers to specify the time limit for the product’s stability and efficacy,” emphasizes King. “For optimal sun protection, as well as texture, stability, and sterility, use sunscreen prior to the expiration date.”
How can you tell if your sunscreen has expired? The easiest way is to check the label. If there is no specific expiration date listed, you can assume it’s good for three years from the purchase date, as advised by the FDA.
Other signs that indicate sunscreen has expired include changes in color, consistency, smell, and texture. Even if these changes occur before the expiration date, it is likely no longer safe to use, and it’s best to replace it with a new one.
Proper storage is crucial in prolonging the shelf life of your sunscreen. Just like any other skincare product, Koestline and King recommend keeping sunscreen away from direct light, as sunlight can cause certain formulations to break down and separate before the expiration date. Koestline suggests storing products in a dry place at room temperature at a minimum, while King recommends opting for a cool, dark place for optimal results.

Peptides have become a hot topic of discussion lately, and it’s no wonder why. Whether found in a peptide eye cream or serum, this ingredient is known for its ability to plump, firm, and stimulate collagen production like no other. The same holds true for peptide lip treatments, a category of lip products that gained attention thanks to Hailey Bieber’s Rhode brand. But what exactly are peptides? And how peptide lip helps your lips?
According to Dr. Gendai Echezona, a triple board-certified physician and owner of Premier Pain Care & Wellness, peptides play a crucial role in various biological processes. They have garnered interest in skincare due to their potential anti-aging and skin-repairing properties. When it comes to the lips, peptides are becoming popular for their ability to enhance collagen, provide hydration, and repair damage.
In simpler terms, peptides can help keep the lips moisturized and prevent chapping, similar to a lip balm. Additionally, Dr. Mona Foad, a board-certified dermatologist and founder of Mona Dermatology, explains that certain peptides can stimulate collagen production in the lips, resulting in improved firmness and volume. This leads to the desired fuller look, and some peptide lip treatments can even serve as lip gloss or lip masks. According to Dr. Azadeh Shirazi, a board-certified dermatologist at La Jolla Laser Dermatology and founder of AziMD Skincare, anyone can benefit from peptide lip treatments as they typically have no side effects and are gentle on the skin, causing no irritation.
We want only the best to touch your lips, which is why we consulted our experts, tested a few ourselves, and researched countless formulas to compile this list of the 7 best peptide lip treatments. Once you try one, you’ll never want to be without it.
Perhaps the most famous peptide lip treatment, Rhode’s iteration has it all: hydrating ingredients, a plumping effect, and a glossy finish. “It’s formulated with shea butter to nourish the lips and peptides to plump and support lip collagen, and its rich texture helps hydrate and protect dry lips,” raves Dr. Shirazi.
Key ingredients: Peptides, shea butter, cupuaçu, babassu
Size: 0.3 fl oz.
Rhode rating: 4.4/5 stars
An ELLE editor says: “Due to some unreasonable stubbornness, I refused to try this product for a while—it couldn’t be that good, right? Well, I’m here to tell you that it actually is that good. Even without any other product underneath, my lips somehow look fuller after a layer of the Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment. I also love how glossy it is without being sticky (I cannot deal with a sticky gloss), and I adore every single tinted version of the formula.” —Carol Lee, associate beauty e-commerce writer
Beyond the clear original shade, this option from U Beauty boasts 12 other gorgeous hues in the range, including champagne coral and deep chocolate. The formula also helps smooth texture over time with chemical exfoliants.
Key ingredients: Peptides, ceramides, alpha hydroxy acid, poly-hydroxy acid, salicylic acid, shea butter, beeswax
Size: 0.51 fl. oz.
U Beauty rating: 4/5 stars
A U Beauty reviewer says: “I am a lip gloss/lip balm fanatic, and U Beauty Plasma Lip is hands down the best one out there. It not only nourishes your lips but also plumps without the annoying tingle. I keep one in my bathroom, one in my car, and one in my purse.”
This easy-to-apply gloss is a true delight for your lips; it’s bursting with nourishing ingredients like hyaluronic acid and avocado oil to glaze your lips and leave them healthy-looking, plump, and soft. Apply a sheer wash of it on its own or over a lipstick or lip liner to get a more pigmented, punchy effect.
Key ingredients: Peptides, hyaluronic acid, evening primrose oil, avocado oil, konjac root, shea butter
Size: 0.15 oz.
Kosas rating: 4.5/5 stars
A Kosas reviewer says: “I have never liked anything on my lips, but I absolutely love this! It feels as nourishing as the best lip balm you can find but a gorgeous color!”
“The Olehenriksen Pout Preserve Peptide Lip Treatment contains peptides, natural moisturizers, and antioxidants that nourish, hydrate, and protect the lips, thus enhancing the appearance of the lips,” says Dr. Echezona. The three scents are a real treat, too: citrus, cocoa, and strawberry sorbet.
Key ingredients: Peptides, mango seed butter, cloudberry oil
Size: 0.4 oz.
Ulta rating: 4.6/5 stars
An Ulta reviewer says: “This is definitely my new go to for fixing dry, cracked, chapped lips. Will definitely be getting another one in the near future for my office.”
Dry lips don’t stand a chance against this peptide lip treatment. It contains hard-hitting moisturizing ingredients like peptides, avocado oil, and vitamin E. Applying a thin layer during the day and a thicker one at night will allow your pout to stay happy, healthy, and plump.
Key ingredients: Peptides, vitamin E, avocado oil
Size: 0.25 oz.
Dermstore rating: 4.8/5 stars
A Dermstore reviewer says: “I have extremely chapped lips. Most lip balms and other lip products just make my lips peel more. This one actually keeps my lips hydrated and lets them heal. Expensive but worth it.”
While there are a lot of topical “lip filler” or “lip plumping” products out there that’ll sting and irritate your lips, the most you’ll feel with this one is a slight tingle. The formula both creates a temporary plumping effect and encourages a fuller look with consistent use over time.
Key ingredients: Peptides, hyaluronic acid
Size: 0.3 oz.
Sephora rating: 4.2/5 stars
A Sephora reviewer says: “Guys, it actually works! I applied it at the beginning of the week, and three days later, my lips definitely feel plumper and hydrated for sure. The weather became drastically colder, and I noticed that my little lines are less visible than usual too.”
As we age and our lips lose volume, we may often see more fine lines and wrinkles on and around our mouths. This Perricone MD fights those signs of aging with the help of peptides, hyaluronic acid, and omegas, and it doubles as a lipstick primer. Plus, a few swipes can reduce bleeding and feathering.
Key ingredients: Peptides, hyaluronic acid, omegas
Size: 0.15 oz.
Dermstore rating: 4.6/5 stars
A Dermstore reviewer says: “This cleared up dry flaky spots that had existed for over ten years. I’ve used Perricone for around twenty years and continue to be pleased with the outcome of each and every product I try. It’s worth every penny. At 62, I face new makeup challenges as never before. With these products, and a 10X magnification mirror, I can continue my makeup routine…”

DAVE KOTINSKY, GETTY IMAGES FOR TRESEMMÉ
Hair accessories have been popular as of late, and they show no sign of slowing down. Hairstylist Lacy Redway brought a utilitarian touch to a chignon, with the addition of a classic no. 2 pencil.

Redway created another embellished bun for the Christian Siriano Fall/Winter ’24 show, but with a more polished finish. To mimic the shine of the collection, her team of stylists applied flecks of gold leaf to the top of each bun and the part. Redway used the new Dyson Supersonic r dryer to lock the gold in place.
DANIELE OBERRAUCH
Slicked-back hairstyles reigned this season (possibly due to the influence of stars like Sofia Richie). To complement Peter Do’s sophomore collection for Helmut Lang, models were sent down the runway with edgy, sleek hair—it was as if they’d stepped outside with slightly wet hair and faced the wind.

COURTESY OF MARC JACOBS
From Miley Cyrus’s Grammys look to the Marc Jacobs Fall/Winter ’24 runway, big hair is back. Hairstylist Duffy created a Diana Ross–meets-doll look using loads of hairspray. “From a beauty perspective, Marc wanted this idea of excess,” he tells Bazaar. “The shape is simple, but it’s a suggestion of the late-’60s and early-’70s disco moment that is the Supremes.”

Justine Marjan created “expensive, luxurious-looking” hair for the Christian Cowan show. Extra-hold hairspray was also key for this look to create volume.

Braids may look high-maintenance. but they are actually easy to achieve and low-effort. Stylist Joey George used a molding wax to create long braids and braided space buns for the LaPointe Fall/Winter ’24 show.
PAOLO LANZI
Lacy Redway was also behind these free-flowing braids, including a braid crown, at the Blonds Fall/Winter ’24 show. A strong-hold gel is crucial for keeping braids in place.

Side parts are also back. However, the 2024 version is coupled with contemporary trends, like slick hair, as seen on the Tory Burch Fall/Winter ’24 runway.
FILIPPO FIOR
Retrofête effortlessly paired the side-part trend with another major trend for 2024: a bouncy blowout. We love the Dyson Airwrap for creating blowout curls without heavily damaging strands.

As we find ourselves in a new month, it’s the perfect time to refresh your signature look. Over the past year, TikTok users have sparked a multitude of hair trends, ranging from trendy buns inspired by Sophie Richie to ’70s-style fringe curtain bangs. Looking ahead to 2024, there are numerous hair trends to keep an eye out for, and we have compiled a guide featuring six of the best ones to help you create your new signature style.
To identify the top six hair trends of 2024, we have closely followed product releases, observed the runways and red carpets, and consulted with seven knowledgeable hair stylists and experts who are well-versed in the world of salon chairs. Whether you are a fan of bold and maximalist styles or prefer a more minimalist approach, there is sure to be a trend that resonates with you. Who knows? Perhaps you may even consider adding volume to your hair with extensions or experimenting with bleaching. As always, the possibilities are endless.
“With the mob wife aesthetic continuing to be popular, I think voluminous styles will stay a huge trend for 2024. I see big bouncy blowouts and intentionally messy updos continuing to be popular this year,” says Laura Polko, a celebrity hairstylist based in Los Angeles. If 2023 was about tight, slicked-back buns, 2024 is the year of letting it all loose. Justine Marjan, a celebrity hairstylist based in Los Angeles, also predicts “layered cuts with lots of volume. We see many more bouncy blowouts and naturally looking voluminous curls that need a soft layered cut to support the added texture and root lift.” If you have fine hair that resists teasing, Marjan recommends extensions like the ones from Great Lengths to add some fullness. Just make sure to lock in any voluminous style with plenty of hairspray to keep it all in place.

If you’re tired of regular salon visits and your hair is begging for a break, this is set to be your year. According to Cody Renegar, a celebrity hairstylist who splits his time between Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., and Arkansas, the coming months will be all about falling in love with the hair color and texture your mama gave you. “Au naturale, classic looks, but with a personal edge, will be trending in 2024. I see people returning to their roots—pun intended. People are really leaning into the low-maintenance thing right now,” he says. So whether you’re letting your roots grow in or learning to work with your curly hair, you can trust that you’re right on trend. “I’m seeing more and more wanting to embrace their natural texture. If you have a great haircut, all you need is a little product to assist—whether to de-frizz or encourage curls—and you should be able to have a beautiful air-dry,” Kelly Macedo, a stylist and the owner of Interior Hair in Los Angeles, explains.
Now 13% Off
Harry Josh, a celebrity hairstylist and the creator of Harry Josh Pro Tools, says, “I see a big, rebellious cut, like the one Florence Pugh is known for, becoming popular in the coming months. We are seeing a lot of short, dramatic haircuts replacing the long, wavy look that we have ruled the media for the last 10 years.” Chopping your hair is an easy—albeit dramatic—way to switch up your vibe in a flash, and it might be time for those wanting to make a bold change to finally take that step. Amy Abramite, a stylist and the creative director at Maxine Salon in Chicago, recommends salon visits for touch-ups every four weeks when sporting this style. “Daily styling is low maintenance—no hot tools required. Push up and off the face with wax for a mussed-up matte finish and hold,” she adds.
Not everyone is into low-maintenance looks. Bleaching your hair is still very much en vogue, as evidenced by celebrities like Beyoncé and Rihanna. And it’s not just platinum blonde hair that’s getting all the love. “Warm colors are also becoming popular. Think honey and golden blondes,” says Renegar. If you try this yourself, be sure to use bond-supporting products that help to reduce and repair damage if or when it happens.
Chin-length bobs have always been stylish (Twiggy’s hair in the 1972 film The Boy Friend immediately comes to mind), and everybody’s catching on. “Maybe it’s because it’s the first of the year, but many clients are coming in wanting a chop to the chin right now. It’s timelessly chic and always in style,” says Macedo. It’s pretty easy to style at home, too; use a touch of heat and a little product, and you’re out the door. Plus, a quick spritz of dry shampoo in the morning keeps it bouncy and fresh in the days following wash day.
L’Oréal Professionnel and Kerasilk are entering the molecular bond repair game and for good reason, it just works. “Users can see and feel the noticeable improvements in hair strength, texture, and appearance. Thanks to innovation and social media, there’s an increased awareness about hair health and the effects of coloring, thermal styling, and environmental stressors. When paired with the in-salon treatment and at-home care, the results are impressive, as damage and breakage are addressed with this scientific approach,” explains Min Kim, the global ambassador of L’Oréal Professionnel. These formulas don’t just work on the surface of your strands; instead, the amino acids within them repair the inner structure of each hair, effectively reversing damage and leaving you with silkier, healthier hair.

BEST SUBTLE LE LABO PERFUME

If you love sipping your morning matcha latte, why not opt to have it in spray form, too? This calming perfume contains sweet fig, contrasted with smooth bergamot and deep vetiver.
Notes: Fig, bergamot, bitter orange, sesame, cedarwood, vetiver, matcha tea
Nordstrom rating: 4.7/5 stars
A Nordstrom reviewer says: “It’s a creamy, tiny bit citrusy, very light scent to be noticed by someone intimately. My husband loves this scent, said it was pleasant and calm so I am buying a full bottle. Don’t expect it to be something for people around you to notice. It’s perfect for a relaxing day, cuddle and hug your loved one. Also suitable for work because it lingers long yet only for you to enjoy it.”
BEST CITRUS LE LABO PERFUME
$99 at Nordstrom$230 at Saks Fifth Avenue
If you know that bergamot is one of your go-to scent notes, it makes sense to opt for this fragrance. It’s rich and citrusy, with hints of musk and cedar to keep it grounded.
Notes: Orange blossom, grapefruit, petitgrain, amber, bergamot, vetiver, cedar, musk
Nordstrom rating: 4.6/5 stars
A Nordstrom reviewer says: “I ordered this without first smelling it–a risk. This is now one of my all time favorite fragrances. It is seductive while at the same time very clean smelling. I have not loved a scent this much in YEARS. Quality product. I also have the body lotion to layer the scent.”
BEST SENSUAL LE LABO PERFUME
$230 at Nordstrom$230 at Saks Fifth Avenue
For a light, sensual fragrance, opt for Tonka 25. It’s a spicier perfume that still manages to feel fresh and light. If it’s date night, a spritz of this will seal the deal.
Notes: Orange, flower absolue, cedar atlas, styrax resin, tonka, musk
Nordstrom rating: 4.5/5 stars
A Nordstrom reviewer says: “This is a great cologne. If you want a unique, yet subtly bold fragrance this is it. It seems like the fragrances are layered. At times it’s bold, then it mellows out. You don’t need much 2 or 3 sprays to last all day. The scent has a reprise that will hit you at 7 PM even though it may have been applied much earlier in the day. Worth every penny!”

BEST SMOKY LE LABO PERFUME
$99 at Nordstrom$99 at Saks Fifth Avenue
“Thé Noir 29 is fresh, but with notes of musk and tea to give it depth,” says West. With contrasting notes like bergamot and tobacco, it manages to keep the balance between masculine and feminine.
An ELLE Editor says: “If you loved Santal 33 but found it to be too popular, consider this to be the runner-up. This is the Le Labo scent I consider to be the second-most recognizable. The fragrance is tea-inspired, but without a sense of primness, like taking a deep inhale in a canister of black tea. This is entirely my opinion, but it also smells a little like smoking luxury weed to me–a little earthy and sweet, too.” –Kathleen Hou, ELLE beauty director
Notes: Bergamot, bay leaves, black tea, fig, hay, tobacco, cedarwood, vetiver, musk
Nordstrom rating: 4.4/5 stars
BEST FLORAL LE LABO PERFUME
$99 at Nordstrom$99 at Saks Fifth Avenue
Floral fragrances are classic, and this scent is packed with a wide variety, giving the sense that you are an entire bouquet. “I am a firm believer that there is a floral fragrance for everyone. Lys 41 is mine because it feels feminine but is not overly sweet,” says West.
Notes: Lily, jasmine, tuberose, absolute, ambrette, vanilla, musk
Nordstrom rating: 4.5/5 stars
A Nordstrom reviewer says: “My youngest daughter bought this for me as a Christmas gift and ever since, I have been enchanted by the scent. It seems too, that wherever I go, someone is asking me what perfume I am wearing. Le Labo does a wonderful job crafting their perfumes!”
MOST UNIQUE LE LABO PERFUME
$99 at Nordstrom$220 at Walmart$322 at Saks Fifth Avenue
While the scent notes in Another 13 may sound familiar, the end result is something very unique. It’s a subtle, clean scent with hints of spice and woods. “Another 13 is spicy, but still extremely light with a bit of sweetness,” says West. Plus, it smells slightly different on everyone’s skin.
Notes: Ambrox, musk, amber, jasmine, moss, ambrette seeds
Nordstrom rating: 4.3/5 stars
A Nordstrom reviewer says: “A subtle skin scent that is what I imagine a paper mill or printing press warehouse would smell like. Upon first spray, you can catch a hint of jasmine and pear, then it quickly settles into clean, crisp white woods, and an almost metallic sharpness. I suspect this smells a little different on everyone as it mixes with your own skin musk. It’s sillage is soft enough to not overwhelm–I almost forget I’m wearing it. However, it clearly lingers since I’ve received compliments and inquiries on what fragrance I’m wearing. If you’re used to wearing potent, heady, room-filling perfumes, this is definitely not for you. If you would enjoy an understated fragrance that inspires you to cozy up on a leather couch and read a weathered library book, Another 13 might be up your alley.”
MOST POPULAR LE LABO PERFUME
$99 at Nordstrom$87 at Walmart$322 at Saks Fifth Avenue
Whether you’re a perfume aficionado or a newcomer to the scent world, odds are you’ve heard of Santal 33. It’s a sensual, creamy perfume with just the right hints of florals and woods to keep it balanced.
Notes: Australian sandalwood, cedarwood, cardamom, iris, violet, smoky wood alloy, ambrox, leather accord, musk
Nordstrom rating: 4.3/5 stars
An ELLE Editor says: “For a period of time in the 2000s, every luxury hotel in NYC and anyone who lived in SoHo smelled like this scent. The original inspiration was this fragrance was allegedly the American West, and once you smell its mix of smokey, woodsy, sexy notes, you never forget it. Particularly because someone you probably know is still wearing it. Whether it’s cult or classic, is up to you.” –Kathleen Hou

I have a deep love for getting my nails done. Although the process can be time-consuming, the results never fail to boost my mood. Instead of regular gel manicures every two weeks, I switched to CND’s Plexigel, which has made a significant difference. Now, I can go a full four weeks between appointments, and the addition of builder gel has resolved the issue of overgrown hyponychium.
Even though I can go a month without needing a touch-up, I prefer natural looks that grow out gracefully. I avoid dark colors and trendy 3D embellishments like “junk” nails. Recently, I discovered the “naked” French tips trend and found it quite intriguing.
French manicures are making a comeback, and the naked French tip trend puts a modern twist on the classic style. It enhances the natural beauty of your nails while creating a diffused French manicure effect.
According to Vanessa Sanchez-McCullough, a celebrity nail artist, in the past, there was a popular style called “forever French nails” that used pink and white acrylic powder. However, it fell out of favor due to its stark appearance. Naked French tips, on the other hand, offer a clean and natural look without being too intense or harsh. It gives the illusion of wearing clear polish while still covering any imperfections, as Sanchez-McCullough explains.
According to Sanchez-McCullough, the tone and color of Porcelain are a very soft white, making it ideal for this trend. After allowing it to cure, she went back to fill in any gaps, ensuring that the color was evenly distributed on the tip.
Next, she applied CND Plexigel in Oatmilk over the entire nail. Oatmilk is her preferred shade because it has a milky appearance without being overly opaque. Using a neutral color along the cuticle line has the advantage of seamless grow-out, as Sanchez-McCullough explains. The natural hue of CND Oatmilk blends in with the nail’s natural color, making any regrowth less noticeable.
After the first coat, she applied another layer of CND Plexigel Shaper Gel to refine the nail’s shape without compromising the colors already applied. This clear, thin viscosity gel prevents the nail from appearing bulky. To complete the manicure, she used CND Plexigel Top Coat and allowed it to cure.
The end result was truly the manicure I had always dreamed of. Normally, I prefer sheer colors that reveal the white of my nails, but they are not all uniform in size or shape. This French tip provided a sense of uniformity and made my nails look flawlessly natural. I am absolutely obsessed with this trend and plan on repeating it countless times until I tire of it, which I highly doubt will happen anytime soon.
