Song for the Mute x Adidas Collaboration: A Neo-Nostalgic Fantasy
November 23, 2024
Rosé is coming in hot with another new track ahead of her debut album drop on December 6, and fans are living for it. Following her massive hit “Apt.,” featuring Bruno Mars—which made her the first female Korean artist to top Spotify’s U.S. chart—Rosé has dropped a second single, “number one girl,” just in time for Thanksgiving.
While “Apt.” brought those high-energy pop-punk vibes, “number one girl” takes us back to Rosé’s more intimate side, echoing the emotional rawness of her 2021 hit “Gone.” In this new track, the 27-year-old singer bares her soul, singing lyrics like, “Isn’t it lonely? I’d do anything to make you want me… I’d give it all up if you told me I’d be the number one girl in your eyes.” It’s a vibe, for sure.

The music video—directed by Rosé herself—matches the song’s mood perfectly. We see her running through the streets of Seoul at twilight, passing iconic spots like the Jamsugyo Bridge (where Louis Vuitton held their pre-fall 2023 show) while serenading her mysterious love. “Tell me I’m a little angel, sweetheart of your city…” she sings, giving us all the feels.
Rosé might be one of pop’s biggest stars, with over 80 million Instagram followers, but in “number one girl,” she strips away the glittery superstar persona to show us the vulnerable side we all can relate to. Even at the top of her game, she’s still chasing that fairytale love story.
